Call to Action

You can sign on to a statement in support of justice for immigrants:

As part of the Council’s effort to bring some “climate change” to the anti-immigrant climate in our state, we are encouraging people of faith to sign on as supporters of a statement called the Religious Coalition for Justice for Immigrants.

Please note that organizations are listed for identification purposes only, so this is a personal statement of support.

Click here to read the statement and to sign on.

There are times when it is important just to speak out publicly, to bring together individual voices to produce a chorus of people of faith. This seems to be such a time on the issue of immigration. Please join us in supporting this statement of hospitality and justice.

Stop Cliffside!

Who owns the air? Who owns the atmosphere? Is it Duke Energy? Or are the air and atmosphere part of our common wealth, to be protected as necessary for the public health, welfare, and safe future of our children? Duke’s Cliffside power plant will accelerate global warming and significantly increase air and water pollution.

Join concerned citizens in expressing their commitment to democracy. You can be part of the solution! Public momentum is building that will eventually force Duke Energy and our politicians to realize there is a safer and better path to a sustainable energy future.

What You Can Do: Ask the N.C. Utilities Commission to revoke Duke Energy’s permit to build Cliffside. All the information you need to participate in the Citizens Cliffside Campaign is on the website www.stopcliffside.org . Various resources are available, including a template to assist you in making an official statement to the Commission.
