Health Care

The Partners in Health and Wholeness Program seeks to reduce the healthcare burden on our state by improving the mental and physical health of individuals.  Through this initiative, our affiliated churches will be able to tap into an extensive network of preventive health programs at the state and local levels.

With a large number of North Carolinians without adequate health insurance and with the high and increasing cost of health care, it is imperative that we learn to reach across our respective disciplines, job titles, or religious and social beliefs to address these challenges and more.  Our future depends on it.

If you would like more information about the Partners in Health and Wholeness Program or wish to lend your support, please contact Willona Akingbade by phone (919-828-6501) or email (willona@nccouncilofchurches.org).

A Flu Pandemic:
Rev. George Reed, Executive Director of the NC Council of Churches, wrote an article titled, Pandemic Flu: Why Faith Groups Must Care, which was published by the North Carolina Medical Journal two years ago.  He also served on the NC Institute of Medicine’s Task Force on Ethics and Pandemic Influenza Planning in 2006-2007.

With the recent concern of H1N1 flu that is sweeping across the globe, Rev. Reed’s insight is both timely and extremely valuable to the faith community. Click here to read the article from the NC Medical Journal 2007;Volume 68, Number 1 p.:43-44.
