Energy Earth is very interested in providing energy audits for your church buildings.  We specialize in energy management relating HVAC, electrical, plumbing and the building envelope.  We find ways to reduce your energy consumption while providing comfort and security.  We are a licensed HVAC and Electrical contactor,  I have over 25 years of experience in HVAC and Energy Management.  Our rate is $72.00 an hour with a $18.00 truck charge.  A church would take about 4 hours to evaluate, money worth spending when you consider the rising cost of fuel.  We would also be able to follow up on quotes that may be needed to implement any energy conservation measures.  If you have any questions, feel free to call me anytime.

I offer walk-through energy evaluations with a summary report for small commercial applications for a fee of $500.00.  A detailed audit will have a much greater time requirement with detailed audit calculations that generally most customers are not interested in due to cost and the lack of desire to replace large costly equipment. I will be happy to discuss with you the needs of your group and how we can be of assistance.

As the lead auditor for the weatherization of many of the Rural Methodist Churches in NC under the Duke Endowment Church Weatherization program with Advanced Energy (Raleigh), I have worked with several hundred churches in North Carolina to improve energy efficiency and green building performance. My services include audits of existing facilities as well as design review and commissioning of new buildings. I charge $400 to $700 for a typical religious building for a one-day audit, depending on the distance traveled.  I’ve learned to require that at least one member of the congregation be present during the audit, and to ask the congregation to commit in advance to make some of the recommended changes.  I’ll provide a written audit for an additional $200 to $300 charge.

In my experience, churches are often unique buildings with unique operating and use schedules that make them a particular challenge. A church audit begins with examining the utility bills and the rate schedule to see if it is appropriate for the services that each congregation offers. Also, there is a concern to preserve facilities and provide healthy air, because simply turning down thermostats can lead to moisture and mold problems and may cost more from demand charges.

For a one day on-site, one day reviewing & analyzing the energy bill histories, one day writing a report
and up to one day for contingencies plus travel expenses, I would charge $4000 plus expenses.  This assumes that a facilities person is on site and available by phone to answer questions and provide other assistance.

Your organization sounds like it has a fabulous mission at the heart of it.  Glad to hear such groups exist. We are available to provide audits across the southeast. Pricing will vary, depending upon size and location of the
building. If any of the churches would like to contact us to discuss their building and pricing, I would invite them to do so.
